A working parent’s guide to finding more energy

Who is this course for?

I am on a mission to help working parents managed their energy for a more
fulfilling work-life balance.

Until September’19 I had always been a full-time working mum and know that
my constant tiredness often prevented me from achieving more at home and at
work.

Twenty-six years ago when I went back to work after my first maternity leave
I wish I had known then what I now know – it would have transformed my life.

Why now?

Because the pandemic has left working parents feeling burnt-out, exhausted
and with poorer mental health according to research commissioned by The
Telegraph
(March 2021).

Juggling careers with childcare and homeschooling without the help of
extended family has left many parents feeling isolated, lonely and exhausted
with no time to spend on themselves.

More than a third reported feeling burnt-out by struggling to keep
everything on track in lockdown and about half said their mental and physical
health had suffered.

This short survey highlights the emotional, mental and physical price
parents have paid for the pandemic.

Why focus on working parents?

My expertise is in parenting and behaviour change.

For 8 years I developed and delivered workshops to well over 1000 parents of children aged 9-19 years. I had great feedback and loved hearing the stories about the difference my courses made.

I loved delivering courses on:

  • Building great relationships with your children – including how to effectively connect with your child
  • Managing relationships when times are tough
  • Managing emotions (Tuning in to Teens)
  • Managing behaviour – including all elements of managing teenage behaviour
  • Building self-esteem – including understanding where it comes from and how to build your child’s self-esteem
  • Managing the stressed teenager

I know working parents have parenting challenges, from persuading your child to go to nursery to worrying about your teenager spending too much time on social media.

Parenting can be the best thing ever as well as one big energy drain! Which is why I include a parenting session as part of my course.

I go through my top tips as well as answer any questions parents may have.

The challenge of change

We often want a painless cure by which our lives can be zapped and quickly
changed for the better.

We read self-help books, we agree with everything they say and are convinced
we can quickly change in ways that matter to us.

However, once finished, we put the book away and our busy day-to-day lives
takeover, and we quickly forget our good intentions.

I want to inspire you to make lasting change so you can achieve what you
want.

Changing our attitudes and behaviour isn’t easy, but I will share with you
hacks that can tip the scales in your favour. These hacks come out of my
reading and research over the last 9 years and are practical and grounded in
common sense.

If we want to increase our energy levels by embracing a new energy mindset,
it will take time, effort and perseverance but it will be worth it.

We need to learn to be our own best friends so as you invest in yourself, I
am confident the benefits will outweigh the cost.

I am there to help and support you through the process so you will be able
see the changes you want start becoming part of your day-to-day life.

My challenge: a 6 week course

I would love to be able to do this course in a couple of hours and be
confident that it would make a difference in your lives.

On average, it takes more than 2 months before a new behaviour becomes
automatic (66 days) and it can take anywhere from 18-254 days for people to
form a new habit.

Therefore, my course is over 6 weeks. Although there will be quick wins time
this time gives you the opportunity to use the tools I share with you to make
the changes you choose to make.

You will also have the option of joining a support group who support and
encourage you (I hope…) as you go through the course. People help people so with
support you are more likely to make the changes you want.
